Pastel Prairie

 Coat: Old Navy, Shoes: Target
I just finished this dress and bonnet last night and I love how they turned out! I used this pattern in B with a few adjustments like the collar, made out of an old sheet from the thrift store for fabric. I used left over fabric to make the cap, using this baby bonnet pattern by Storybook Woods. I just printed out the image they have on the site of the side pattern and sized it up by I think 150% so that it would fit my not-baby-sized head and then used some scrap paper curved around the top to make a pattern for the fabric down the middle because I didn't want to order the actual pattern since it wouldn't fit anyway. Before I sewed it I embroidered flowers on the sides and I added peach ribbons so that I can tie it under my chin if I want.
I wore it with a mustard coat with a little pink boutonniere I made for the lapel, black tights and my black Target flats.
I also baked a whole bunch of matcha cupcakes last night using this recipe from The Scran Line and they turned out really good! They said that the green would fade when they baked but I didn't add any food coloring and they still came out super bright green. I brought some to class today and everyone seemed to like them.
I hope you have a lovely day!

Unicorn Dress

Dress: Vintage (Modified), Tights: H&M, Shoes: Forever 21
On Tuesday I pursued higher education wearing a pale green unicorn-print dress, striped tights and oxfords with lavender tulle for shoelaces with pink roses in my hair and pink iridescent glitter around my eyes. I did some alterations on this dress on Monday because it was just about an inch too small around the waist but it had a bunch of interfacing on the top half and also a neckline I didn't really like, but I loved the fabric.
I ripped a whole bunch of seams and cut out almost all the interfacing and excess fabric and put in panels on the side (which ended up making it a bit too big but I don't mind). Then, I cut down the collar by a few inches in the front and used some light aqua fabric and made 3 inch wide and about 1.5 ft long tubes which I pinned into pleats and sewed on as a collar. I used some ribbon in a slightly darker aqua to disguise where I attached it and also as a tie in the front because there was still a little keyhole that I hadn't closed up.
I think the dress turned out very super cute!
I hope you have a glitterific day!

T-shirt -> Cute Dress

Dress: DIY, Bandeau: Forever 21, Tights: h&m, Shoes: Creepers
This weekend I turned my first Smiths t-shirt into a dress. I used a skirt as the pattern for the bottom and sewed that up with a zipper in the back. Then, I cut the shirt so that it would hit just about an inch below my natural waist and cut a line straight up the back, leaving just the collar attached. Then I sewed the shirt to the skirt and left the back open. I think it's a fun way to refurbish an old shirt, especially if it's already oddly fit like this one was.
I paired the dress with mint tights that matched the colors in the picture, a black lace bandeau and my leopard-print creeps.
I hope you have a pleasant present!

Chloe

Spooky DIY Dress

Dress and pin: DIY, Tights: Forever 21, Boots: h&m
I made and wore this dress two weeks ago but then I've been sick so I didn't really get a chance to post it but here is how I made my spooky Halloween-print shift dress if you happen to be in the market for your own.

Materials:
2 1/2- 3 yards of fun fabric (I used a Maude Asbury "Spooktacular Too" fabric that you can find online here or here)
1/2 a yard of plain fabric for the collar
1 zipper for the back

I didn't use a pattern because I couldn't find one that I wanted at the craft store and also because I'm too impatient to order one online and wait for it to come so I *wing*ed it (bat pun) basing the shape off of my collared shift dress
Tbh it would have turned out much better if I'd used a pattern but this worked fine. I just laid the dress over the fabric with candles holding it in place and cut out two pieces for the front and back. The front just had to be cut with a lower neckline for the collar.

After cutting out the main dress I sewed up the sides and shoulders. Then, I used the collar on the original dress as a base for the collar for this one. I traced the basic shape of it then changed the lines to look like bat wings

I cut out four copies of that pattern and sewed each pair together, leaving the top open so that I could turn them inside out and attach them to the dress
After I'd turned them inside out I did a stitch along the edge to show off the shape of them

I cut out interfacing from the first fabric using the top of the collar and used that to attach the collar
I also used interfacing to finish the arm holes
Then I just added a zipper at the back and hemmed the bottom

I wore my dress with polka dot tights and witch boots and added a glittery homemade bat pin to help disguise the wonky proportions of my dress. I did my hair up in a messy pseudo-beehive and pinned roses in it.
I hope you have a lovely day!

All You Need Is Moz (Jacket DIY)

Shirt: Cash4Chaos, Jacket: DIY, Skirt: Amazon, Socks: Modcloth, Sneakers: Forever21
Today was the first day that I got to wear my newly redone jacket to school which was nice because I really like this jacket, even if it's a bit wonky.
I did my jacket in an attempt to emanate Moz's Elvis jacket in the Shoplifters video, to some degree of success?
If you want your own slightly creepy/super rad jacket, here's how I did mine:
 (original jacket)
I used fuchsia Rit dye on my denim jacket using the Rookie tutorial.
I sketched out little pictures of Morrissey's face first but I couldn't get the dimensions right.
I traced the basic features of his face off of my laptop and then poked through the paper onto the back of the jacket, which I'd painted out white.
I proceeded to paint his face onto my jacket.
Faces are weird, especially on fabric because if the fabric folds or is in any way not perfectly flat it looks really weird and creepy, especially when it's thrown over the back of your chair late at night. Either way, I'm proud to wear a painting of Morrissey's face across my back each day.
Today I wore my jacket with a Morrissey t-shirt (because you can never have too much Moz- he's all you need, after all), my silver skirt and sneakers with frilly socks. I also fashioned a crown of green hydrangeas.
I hope you have a glitterific day!

Chloe

Blanket Fort

Outfit Details- Blouse and Slip/Crinoline: Vintage, Socks: Payless, Crown: DIY
A week ago, I decided that I wanted to make a blanket fort. So I made one, and spent most of the past week in it, reading and listening to music. I finally got a chance to take pictures in it, and since this is the last day of summer, I did a quick photo shoot. I wore a vintage Dior blouse over an old slip attached to a crinoline. I also wore sheer grey knee-highs, and a dried flower crown.
My fort is made up of two sheets strung over my fold-out couch, with Halloween lights hung inside, and filled with pillows, blankets, stuffed animals, books, my iHome, and a nerf gun to fend off any attackers, and most often a cat.
I made a playlist of songs to listen to in my fort:

I made it with 8tracks, which is a really cool website for making playlists and things. Here are my mixes.
I hope you have a wonderful day, filled with many a blanket fort!

Bedsheet Skirts

Outfit Details- Shirt: Old Navy, Skirt: An old sheet (DIY?), Tights: Target, Boots: (Knock off) Doc Martins, Crown: DIY
Sorry I haven't posted anything for a while again, but we were finishing up my room (which I will post pictures of soon), and then it was my birthday (I am officially 15 now), and then we had my party, and 4th of July, and all kinds of things, so I haven't gotten a chance. I wore this outfit back in February or March based on my vague memory of when it was and my hair color.
I remember it was kind of cold and a little bit drizzly out, so I wanted to wear something cozy and warm, and thought, "Hey? What's cozier than bedding?" so I wore a sheet. I briefly considered fashioning some frat-party-style toga, then considered doing a quick stitch through it, but ended up doing a no-sew gathered skirt that allows you to still use it as a sheet when you're done. I don't have any pictures of how I did it, but I simply laid out the sheet, folded it down to the length I wanted it, then slipped a ribbon through the crease. Then, you can just push the fabric towards the middle until it's the width of your waist, and tie it around yourself. I wore black tights and black shorts under it, and put one safety pin a few inches under the waist band to keep from any awkward, wind-induced situations, but allowed a slit up the side. It made it so that when I walked, the back flowed out behind me, and the front just kind of draped across my knees.
I also wore a pink flower crown of my own creation. I just took a headband and glued a ton of fake flowers to it for that.
I hope you have a glitterific day!

Chloe
