Fake Hair Don't Care

Top: Probably Anthropology, Skirt: Thrift Store, Socks: Modcloth
Yesterday I french braided my hair with there really long and super terrible extensions that are honestly kind of gross but they almost perfectly match my hair right now so I don't really mind. They don't look at all natural but at this point I think of things like extra long braids hanging down my back more as accessories than a hair style. I also wore a bunch of roses made into a flower crown and stuck leaves in the braids, prompting my friend to comment that I looked like "a weird forest lady," which is at least half of my daily aesthetic.
Clothing-wise I wore an old striped top of my mom's and a skirt that I got at a thrift store and cut the hem off of. I have also taken to filling in my eyebrows with pink eyeshadow that matches my hair because it makes me feel especially magical, which is really how everyone should feel every day.
I hope you have a glitterific day!

Chloe

Orange Hair, Green Hair, Moz and E

So my hair was very briefly orange before I let my friends attack my hair again with bleach and turned it white again. I also then made the likely poor decision to hand a pair of scissors each to two of my friends and let them cut my hair. They each stood on one side and ended up forgetting to check the other side at any point, and then it was mostly all the length of my bangs. It's sort of terribly uneven but I've just kind of left it for the past three months (except for changing the color to hot pink/purple to green then lavender and now black) and just started cutting my bangs again a couple weeks ago.
In May I got to go see Morrissey (who is my favorite human) in concert with a bunch of my friends and it was incredibly wonderful. When we were going in, a photographer from LA Weekly took a picture of us and it's in a slideshow of the show.
Then, my parents took my friend Sophie and I down a week or two ago to see the EELS and the same guy took our picture again, and it is once more in a slideshow.
So, now we are just about up-to-date on my hair and outfits since November or so.
I hope you've had a lovely year and that it stays lovely.
Love,
Chloe

Lorna Doom Inspired Hair

So for a while it seemed like my friends and I were having viewings of "What We Do Is Secret" almost every weekend, and have all written "Here lies Darby Crash" and "My life, my leather, my love goes to Bosco" on hundreds of places around school (desks, walls, theaters) because of the Germs. In January my mom cut my hair like Lorna Doom for me, because Lorna is the coolest, and bleached it out like hers (which was quite painful to get it as close to white as I did). I also went around in ripped up tights and knee socks or my black Dickies and button-ups for a while and my bass is named "Andy Doom" for Andy Rourke and Lorna Doom.
But seriously, go watch the movie because it's really good and go look at pictures of Lorna Doom because she wears really cool clothes.
Have a lovely day!
Love,
Chloe

Spiked

So in December or January I had my mom cut my hair a little bit so that I'd be able to put it up with Knox from time-to-time, and have since done so a few times. It's fun and I really like doing it but it's just annoying because I always touch my head all day and it feels weird.
I hope you have a lovely day!

Chloe

Rainbows On Acid

Skipping over multiple hair colors and every outfit I've worn for the past month, this is what I wore today. I've been busy every weekend with various theater productions, and haven't been very good about posting. I plan to post my stored up pictures this weekend, but I just really wanted to go through the ones that I just took. I redyed my hair a few days ago, bleaching it for the first time since April or May, and now it's bright neon green. It has streaks of orange, pink, and teal, and I like to describe it as an "Acid Trip Rainbow."
I wore my apple dress again, once more with safety pins in the collar, although this time they're placed differently, and ripped tights. I doodled anarchy symbols on the tights in green sharpie, and it left cool markings all over my legs when I changed. I have also been wearing this belt a lot lately, as it perfectly matches my hair. It's a neon green, translucent and glittery plastic belt. It's my favorite.
I hope you have a very metal day,
Love,
Chloe

Punk Rock Dinosaur

When I wore this outfit, a very large number of people commented that I looked like a dinosaur. Personally, I took that as a complement, especially when it was given as "You look like a punk rock dinosaur," which it sometimes was.
I achieved the look by crafting a mohawk of buns in my hair, teasing my bangs and the few strands that were left, and using a ton of hairspray. I wore a self-painted and cut up shirt to which I added a few safety pins around the hem, a black lace dress worn as a skirt, striped tights, docs, my pin-covered jacket, and a studded collar that I got at a flea market for a dollar.
Outfit Details:
Shirt: DIY
Skirt: I'm not sure
Jacket: Thrift store (the pins were added)
Tights: Leg Avenue
Shoes: Doc Martens
Collar: Flea Market
I hope you have a good day!

Chloe

Since When Does Orange + Blue Not Equal Orange?

Well, this was my attempt to dye my hair bright orange. It did not work. However, I did borrow my mom's Who shirt, so that brightened my day! I semi-hated the color it turned, so after school I tried color-corrector, but that also did not work very well, so now my hair is dyed a sort of blue-black. That morning, I took an old pair of black tights and cut lots of hole in them. They turned out awesome.
Outfit Details:
Shirt: The Who (I'm not sure where it's from)
Skirt: American Eagle
Tights: K-mart (self-torn)
Shoes: (knock off) Doc Martins
I hope you have a lovely day!

Chloe

First Day of School (Sophomore Edition)

Outfit Details- T-shirt: Everything English, Skirt and fishnets: Forever 21, Boots: (knock off) Doc Martins
This is what I wore on Monday for the first day of school. I think it's kind of cool to be able to look back through this blog and see what I was wearing for the first day of school last year. That was also right after I cut my hair, and it's weird to see it so short, although it hasn't really grown all that much in the past year, due to so much bleaching that it's semi-ruined.
I've also gotten a much better camera since then, so my pictures are all a lot nicer. I can still picture exactly what I wore on the first day's of seventh and eighth grade, and it's cool to see how much my style and everything has changed since then. In seventh grade, I wore jeans and a pink floral blouse, with super long straight blond hair, then it eighth grade I wore a black and white striped dress (which I still wear sometimes), turquoise leggings, and bright crimson hair.
(My red hair)
Does anyone else ever start looking at older pictures of themselves and sort of compare them to them now? I always just think it's interesting to see the differences and everything.
Anyway, I hope you have a lovely day!
Love,
Chloe

I Think the People at Home Depot Think I'm Weird.

Outfit Details- Dress: Vintage, Sweater and Belt: Forever 21, Boots: (knock off) Doc Martins, Purse: MochiBeaucoup.com
So, in what (I think) is the first glance at my new room (as it was a couple weeks ago), this is what I wore to run over to Home Depot for some more paint. I think we ran over there at least five times in about a week. Each day I wore a different outfit, and (for the second half of the week) a different hair color. My outfits ranged from old P.E. shirts (as seen in the last pictures) and vintage skirts, thrown on over old shorts in an effort to look semi-presentable, to floor-length dresses and combat boots (as shown in the first pictures). Each was met with odd looks and couples pausing their searches for just the right color for their accent walls in order to (very subtly) glance at the peculiarly colored girl. Strangely, it was my second hair color that received the more positive responses, contrary to what I would have guessed. Wondering what my current color is? I actually didn't get any pictures right after I dyed it, and it's kind of faded now, but I'll try and get some pictures up tomorrow. Until then, I did take a picture of the dye before I used it.
For whatever reason, all of the men who were about my grandpa's age working there just loved my green hair. They all just pointed to it and said something about what a lovely shade of green it was, or that I was very festive for St. Patrick's day (which isn't until March).
It's always kind of cool to see how people will react to my hair, and who will. I'm almost always surprised with the results. Sure, you get some weird looks or comments (for instance, with the hair color in the above pictures, which I kind of liked faded, I was told that it looked like I was "prematurely graying," which only makes me want to dye my hair silver even more), but it's always fun when kooky old women come up to you on the street and ask you how you did your hair, because they've been thinking about doing theirs, and do you think they should try it out? The answer is nearly always, "Yes."
I hope you have a magnificent day,
Love,
Chloe

Teal to Purple

Outfit Details- Dress: Vintage, Collar: DIY, Tights and Belt: Forever 21, Shoes: Doc Martins
This is the first post I've done with pictures taken in my room since my very first few posts, which were just barely less than a year ago. These pictures were from a couple of weeks ago, during school. It's really weird because right now I'm working on totally redoing my room, so these pictures are completely different from what my room looks like right now. Currently, the carpet is ripped out (and thrown out the window), so the floors are just the rough wood underneath; the walls are now a dark violet/plum purple, with one in teal. Other than a ladder and some debris, every single thing from my room is strewn across our living room. This makes it kind of difficult to coordinate pretty outfits, so luckily I have a ton stored up, although I did take a few pictures of my outfit today.
As a quick tour of my room circa-three days ago, the above pictures show my window and desk, a few of the walls which I cover in magazine clippings and pages, my Ingrid Michaelson and Regina Spektor posters, and the mirror above my dresser, filled with movie stubs, paper dolls, and various artwork and zines. Below are my two shelves, which I am very proud of. The top one houses a collection of my books, organized by color. The bottom shelf has all of my witch-y things, like skulls (plastic), candles, flowers, my Ouija board, and some various other stuff. From it hangs my favorite string of moon and sun lights, and my favorite purple witch-hat, which I hold a propensity for wearing with my favorite black pajamas late at night. Above my books I have a printed out version of a print by Emily Martin, which depicts a boy and girl sitting on a giant pile of books, accompanied by the Morrissey quote "There's more to life than books, you know, but not much more," from the song "Handsome Devil."
Oh, I also redid my hair by putting turquoise/teal over the lavender part of my hair, and leaving the violet tips. It was probably the messiest I've ever gotten while doing my hair. It had nothing to do with the color itself, but I think I was just not even trying to keep the dye off of my face, and it (of course) got all over my face. I thought it looked kind of cool, though, so I took a picture before I washed it off.
I wore a vintage dress with a sparkly purple belt, a collar that I cut off of a thrift-store men's shirt, mint colored lacey tights that you can't really see, and maroon docs.
I hope you all have a glitterific day!
Love,
Chloe

A Call for Guest Posters

Hi! I just wanted to type up a super quick post since I didn't get a chance to do any outfit pictures again today. The school musical (In the Heights) is still running for the next two weekends, as I mentioned in my last post, and as I'm on the costume crew, I haven't and probably won't be able to do many posts until the play is done. So, just in case anyone might be interested but didn't see it in the last post, I'm asking if anyone wants to submit a guest post for me to use? If you have a cool outfit you've put together that you'd like to share, or a DIY, tutorial, or photo-shoot, I'd love to put it up! It doesn't matter if you have a blog yourself or not, I always just think it's always kind of fun to see guest post on blogs.
I know I've had times before when I didn't post for a while, but since I know about this one ahead of time, I figured it'd be fun to ask some other people to do some posts for me. It's always a cool way to find out about other blogs, and about some really cool people!
I do have one picture to share real quick, though. I just took a picture of my hair with my webcam, because it's been fading and it's all pastel and curly and pretty, and it looks like cotton-candy.
My expression looks kind of dead-pan, but my hair looks cool, so it works.
I wish you all a glitterific day!
Love,
Chloe

(Figurative) Rainbow Puke

Outfit Details- Dress: Vintage, Tights: Vintage (Mary Quant), Belts (Red, Turquoise, and Purple): Forever 21, Yellow Belt: From another dress, Shoes: Doc Martins
This was my outfit from last Monday, but I haven't had a chance to post anything all week, or even take pictures other than these. Our High School(Dos Pueblos)'s Spring Musical opened on Friday, and I'm on the costume crew. We've been at school until at least 6 (sometimes 8) almost every night this week, and on days we got out early, all I wanted to do was go to sleep. It's so incredibly fun, but by now I'm completely exhausted. (Un?)Luckily, we've still got something like 6 more shows left, for the next two weekends, after the 3 we did this weekend. Sorry, I just wanted to let you all know why I haven't posted all week, and why I will most likely not be posting anything this week. If anyone wants to do a guest post for me, that would be super incredibly awesome, so if you're interested, please leave me a comment, or email me at cirqueduquirk@gmail.com. Also, I took a few pictures of the costumes I worked most on, which I'll try and post soon.
For this outfit, I basically could not figure out what to wear, and then used absolutely all the time I had trying on outfit after outfit, then sat there on my bed for a few minutes and decided that I was just going to be the most freaking colorful person on the planet that day. I threw on a bunch of random stuff, trying to make it as colorful as possible, to a point that it was almost just ugly and hurt to look at. I threw on clashing patterns and colors, with four different belts and bright-ass green eyeshadow to complement my newly rainbow hair.
Oh yeah! My hair is rainbow now! A local salon, Napoleon Blonde, offered to do my hair rainbow (which I was planning to do anyway) for free, if they could use pictures of me. Last Sunday, I was working a childrens' circus-themed birthday party, where I dressed as a gypsy and read people's palms and tarot cards. We did a photo-shoot before the party, though, and I think there were some cool shots. I'll post them as soon as we get them and everything.
I wish you all a glitterific day!
Love,
Chloe
