A Call for Guest Posters

Hi! I just wanted to type up a super quick post since I didn't get a chance to do any outfit pictures again today. The school musical (In the Heights) is still running for the next two weekends, as I mentioned in my last post, and as I'm on the costume crew, I haven't and probably won't be able to do many posts until the play is done. So, just in case anyone might be interested but didn't see it in the last post, I'm asking if anyone wants to submit a guest post for me to use? If you have a cool outfit you've put together that you'd like to share, or a DIY, tutorial, or photo-shoot, I'd love to put it up! It doesn't matter if you have a blog yourself or not, I always just think it's always kind of fun to see guest post on blogs.
I know I've had times before when I didn't post for a while, but since I know about this one ahead of time, I figured it'd be fun to ask some other people to do some posts for me. It's always a cool way to find out about other blogs, and about some really cool people!
I do have one picture to share real quick, though. I just took a picture of my hair with my webcam, because it's been fading and it's all pastel and curly and pretty, and it looks like cotton-candy.
My expression looks kind of dead-pan, but my hair looks cool, so it works.
I wish you all a glitterific day!
Love,
Chloe

Happy (belated) Valentine's Day!

Outfit Details- Shirt: Old Navy, Dress: #forever21, Belt: #forever21, Pins: DIY, Tutu: #forever21, Tights: DIY, Socks: Betsy Johnson, Shoes: Ross

Happy Belated Valentine's Day! Sorry, I was planning to post yesterday, because I really loved my outfit, but right after school, my friend, Natalie, and I went to see Beautiful Creatures, and I didn't get home until pretty late, and then we had dinner, and then I was so tired I fell asleep wearing my full outfit, socks, tights, tutu, pins and all. I took off my shoes, but that was it. I also forgot to remove any of my makeup, which included bright red lipstick, a heart drawn on my cheek in red stage makeup and eyeliner, pink glitter, and bright pink eyeshadow. I was really tired.
So, since I didn't take any pictures last night but I really loved my outfit, I decided to draw it out, kind of like what Kate Gabrielle (of Scathingly Brilliant) did a few weeks ago. Of course, I drew myself in poses that I would most likely have been in for my pictures. I've realized (and been told by my parents) that I'm kind of monotonous in my posing sometimes. I'm also rarely looking straight at the camera. I don't really know what's up with that, but I've actually made an effort to look at the camera lately! I promise!
If you wanted to see what each clothing item looks like in real life, I'll link each one to a previous post they were worn in: Dress, Belt, Pins, Tutu, Tights. Sorry, I haven't worn the shirt, socks, or shoes in any other posts!
As I mentioned, I saw Beautiful Creatures yesterday!!! It was really exciting to see one of my favorite books ever turned into a movie, but also really sad, because I realized that just about everything that I was terrified they would change or not put in, they changed or didn't put in. If you have read the book and plan to see the movie, but want to stay in that optimistic state of mind that I was in before yesterday, then please, by all means do. But be prepared for devastation at the lack of at least all of my favorite parts. Don't worry, I won't give any spoilers, but I just need to rant. Really badly. They did not ever have Lena's eyes green, and dark casters' eyes only turned gold for a teensy bit of the time. That was stupid. Ethan and Lena had accents!!! That just kind of automatically ruined pretty much everything for me. They didn't give Lena her crescent moon shaped birthmark!! Macon, rather than looking like Atticus Finch, was super creepy and kind of looked like a pimp. That was stupid. Ethan found the locket within, like, the first minute of the movie, without Lena! Also, they really did just make Ethan super unlikable. First off, he was just a complete idiot. They made it seem like he couldn't read because when he did her held the book right up to his face and read aloud really slowly, and instead of saying little witty things to cheer her up, he'd just make this creepy smiley face and start laughing at himself. Also, not like the actor who played him was too completely hideous or anything, but he was not Ethan. Ok? Ethan is supposed to be super tall and lanky and have hair that's growing over his eyes. The actor was kind of stalky and had short hair and was just weird. Plus: Ridley's hair!! It was going to be blond and pink and amazing!!
Most of all, the two things that I seriously started freaking out and hitting Natalie in the arm about. 1. They didn't have Marian the librarian!! She was so cool!! 2. They didn't have the Sharpie on Lena's walls!!! I seriously almost cried when they didn't have that. It was my favorite thing, along with her necklace (which they also only barely had). Instead, the walls were almost black, and she did magic so that the words showed up in light for, like, two seconds, then dissapeared. It was stupid.
Still, if you read the books and loved them as much as I do, then I would totally suggest going and seeing the movie! Maybe it's just how you pictured everything, and I'm just going off of how I pictured everything, but if not, then at least you have a really good ranting topic for the next few weeks! If you haven't read the books, then I would first and foremost suggest that you read the books!!! They're super good! But, I'd also suggest seeing the movie, because it was a pretty good movie once you got over everything they changed that would have made it SO much better if left in! But, they did have one line that I approved of them adding, which was something like "That girl, with her seductive quirkiness..." That was pretty awesome.
Sorry, end of rant.
On another note, but speaking of books, my friend, Michelle, and I are still writing our zombie-teen-romance novel, UnEarthed, which has currently almost 150 pages! We have a Pinterest page with pretty much everything that reminds us of our book, or that has to do with it. Today, I made a playlist on 8tracks that is pretty much the soundtrack of our imaginary movie-adaptation of it. In case anyone was wondering what this book is actually about, the current description is:
Boo, a misunderstood, borderline goth teen, moves to Salem, Ma, in the midst of a "Zombie Apocalypse." Rather than the boring life she expected to find, she finds the first friend she's ever had, and maybe some romance, in Lorcan, an agsty teenaged zombie who died an 80's punk. He introduces her to world of friendship, adventure, and a dark mystery. Along with fellow members of the undead, Raven, a sarcastic pick-pocket, and Scooter, a former Irish pirate, they form a death-defying friendship.
I promise, it's much better than it sounds.
I hope you all have a glitterific day!
Love,
Chloe

The Cotton-Candy Selling Cat

Outfit Details:
Hat- #h&m
Sweater- #forever21
Dress- #ModCloth
Socks- #forever21
Shoes- Shoebuy
Hair Extensions- Sally Beauty Supply
Today I feel like a cat who sells cotton candy. I'm wearing my cat hat, and my hair is pink and blue, so it kind of works. My outfit is all pastels and candy stripes, too, which helps. I also feel kind of like Annika, of The Pineneedle Collective, with my bright pink hair extensions and the same purse that she uses on occasion. My friend Michelle (who I'm writing the book with), and I went to see the movie "The Rise of the Guardians" today, and we both really liked it. We were easily the oldest people there who weren't parents, but it was an awesome movie. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but it was a lot better than I thought it'd be. We were both freaking out just a little bit though at the fact that Jack Frost in it completely reminded us of a white-haired Lorcan, one of the main characters in our zombie book. There were a lot of similarities.
Speaking of the book, we're almost done with UnEarthed, and are just about at the end. We're excited to finish it up, but a little bit sad, too. We've been working on it for about six months now, and even if we're nowhere near finished with the editing, it's weird to be almost done. Maybe once it's all done, I'll put some sort of a link to it so that if anyone wants to they can read some of it.
I hope you all have a glitterific day, with cats, candy, and zombies!
Love,
Chloe

Hello, all of you wonderful people! Above are pictures from the photo shoot I made my friends help me with today, inspired by movies about adventurous children, namely, Moonrise Kingdom. I was reading a Rookie article about young explorers, and felt like I needed an adventure. Even if it was just down the street and through some trees. Also, it just needed to have some Moonrise Kingdom-esque elements, such as suitcases filled with books, binoculars, some sweet dance moves, and awesome vintage outfits. I forced my friends, Ember and Nina into some "Chloe Clothes," and started styling our set. Luckily, my mom has a business renting out props, and styling photo shoots, parties, and weddings, so it wasn't difficult to get everything we needed. If anyone has noticed, I have a new blog, in addition to this one, but with the similar name of "Cirque du Quirk," on WordPress. It still has all of the same content, but I think it looks nicer. However, it's a lot more difficult to do things, even though there's much more to do. I don't know, I'll probably figure it out, but for now I'm still just confused. It's up though, so you can check it out if you get a chance! I linked to it above, but it's cirqueduquirk.com if the link doesn't work.
I hope you all have glitterific days, with lots of adventures!
Love,
Chloe (the explorer)

DIYs, Dorothy Dresses, and 1,000 Pageveiws!

 Outfit Details:
Sweater- DIY (originally from Old Navy)
Dress- Francesca's Collections
Belt- From another dress
Socks- From the gift shop at a Tim Burton exhibit
 Shoes- #Asos
Hello! So, yesterday, I came home and checked the stats for this very blog, and saw that I had not 1,000 views, but 1,010! Sorry, I wanted to do a quick post to thank you all, but I wanted to include a pretty outfit in there too, and because I accidentally woke up five minutes before I had to leave yesterday morning, and just threw on some random things lying around my room, I figured I'd wait so I could wear a fancy outfit. I think this outfit kind of fits with my whole Halloween kick, too, because it's very Dorothy-esque, with the blue, sear-sucker dress, striped socks, and red-ruby-slipper-T-straps.
Also, I realized that I've been completely failing to do a post on the DIY project I promised months ago. I did this over the summer, but so far it's been either too hot out to wear a sweater for more than 5 minutes, or I've worn it with a collar that covered the embroidery. So, here is my scalloped cardigan revamp DIY:
 Materials:
1 Cardigan/Sweater, 1 Pair of scissors, Embroidery Thread, 1 Needle, 1 Embroidery hoop, 1 Marker
I took a piece of paper, and sketched out some crescent shapes along the edge until I got one that looked even. than I cut that out of the paper, and used the rest of the paper as a template for my scallops. I just fit my sweater into the hoop until it was pretty tight, and used the paper to lightly draw the shapes on the exposed bit of collar with a marker. Then, I just embroidered along the collar until it was filled with pretty scallops! Sorry if those were bad/confusing instructions, but it's really simple once you start doing it.
Thank you again for viewing, reading, and commenting! I hope you all have extra glitterific days!!
Love,
Chloe

Once in a Blue Moon...

 Outfit Details:
Shirt- An Ingrid Michaelson Concert
Dress- #Asos
Tights- #Target
Belt- From another dress
Shoes- Shoebuy.com
In case you didn't hear, there actually is a blue moon out tonight, and there won't be another until something like 2015. It only seems fitting though, that it would be today that something crazy would happen. When I got home, I checked my stats, and I somehow have something like 630 views! It's not like I haven't had spikes in the page views before, but it's always exciting when that happens! So I just wanted to thank everyone for supporting my blog and coming back to look at it, or those people who may or may not be sitting at home hitting the refresh button over and over.
I hope you all have an extra supercalifragilisticexpialidocios-ly glitterific day!
Love,
Chloe
P.S. I know that the link to get a sponsorship spot was being wonky, but it should be fixed now.
P.P.S. Don't you love floating pictures? I love those and they're so fun to take (Even if you look really weird jumping up and down in a pose for 5-10 minutes)!

500 Page Veiws!

Outfit details:
Dress- Vintage
Tights- #Forever21
Shoes- #Modcloth
That's right! This little blog right here has been viewed more than 500 times! I know that doesn't seem like much, but it's only been up for about two months, so I think that's pretty good! To celebrate, I'm giving YOU the chance to have a free sponsorship spot here on my blog! Just use the code QUIRKY at the checkout and it should be free. You can mosey on over to Passionfruit Ads and get your very own sponsorship spot!

Statistics: As I said, I've had over 500 page views, with about 10 a day, and usually about 50 a week. You can take a gander at my statistics for yourself right here. For some reason, it says I only have one follower, even though multiple people have shown me that they're following me too. I've looked it up and other people have had this problem too, so you'll just need to take my word for that there are more than one :). If you have any questions, email me at cirqueduquirk@gmail.com!
I hope your day was filled with at least 500 flecks of glitter!

Abraham Lincoln & The Lochness Monster In Love

Yes. You read the title of this post right. Abraham Lincoln & Nessie have fallen deeply in love, and they are drawn on my knee to prove it. See? They're hanging out with the friendly narwhal.
I have a whole theory about how Abraham Lincoln is TOTALLY secretly alive, and is hiding out with his love, Nessie. What if during the Civil War, he happened to stop by Scotland, to see if they could be made allies in the event that the confederate invented the atomic bomb, and then he got lost, and ended up at Lake Lochness, and then he met Nessie and they fell in love. But, you know, he was married and if the press found out that he'd left her for the Lochness Monster, then how would he ever get a job in politics again?! So, he decided to fake his death! Come on, James Wilkes Booth was an actor! He was SO paid to shoot Lincoln with a stage prop! And then, Lincoln just pretended to die, and used fake blood, and that's why that one guy who's trying to get the pillow with the blood on it to do DNA samples isn't allowed to use it! Because they're trying to cover up the truth! So then, Abe boarded a pirate ship secretly, and then slaughtered the pirates and used the ship ti make a log cabin to live in, and made a fake hollow rock-thing to cover in and fill it with air and keep it from detection. And he and Nessie live there to this day, as they are both immortal and in love! I am currently making a picture book about it, and have the first few pages done. If you happen to be wondering, or not, UnEarthed has more than 70 pages now, and about 12 chapters.
Also, I was excited to find that this very blog has currently more than 380 views! Yes! That's right! This very blog, started by a wacky teenaged girl just a little more than a month ago, happens to have been looked at close to 400 times, by people all around the world! I don't know about you, but I think that's kind of cool!
I hope  you have a glitterific day, filled with Abraham Lincoln conspiracy theories, and many a narwhal!

UnEarthed

I'm not sure if I've mentioned yet, but I kind of have a thing about zombies (and loving them). It began partially with my friends and I playing "Zombie" in the middle of the field during free time in P.E. a few months ago, then became the theme for my birthday party this year (it was a zombie tea party), and is now the theme of the book my friend Michelle and I are writing. As of this moment, we have about 40 pages, and it's still growing. Like the title of this post, the book is called UnEarthed, get it? Cause it's about zombies and all... Ha. But whether you happen to be curious about what it's about (other than zombies), or just stumbling upon the blog of a young, zombie obsessed girl,  I'll tell you the basics of the plot.

It's in some ways like "Twilight" (we are teenage girls) meets "Romeo and Juliette" meets "Dash and Lily's Book of Dares" (if you haven't read Dash & Lily, you should).  Except with zombies. So, Boo, a sullen teenage girl, misunderstood by her parents, moves to Salem, meeting Lorcan, a zombie who's angst levels rival even her own. She is brought into a community of zombies, who are the only friends she's ever had, their ranks including Raven, the "former" con artist who's been Lorcan's best friend, and is always ready to throw in a sarcastic comment, and keep things from getting too "sappy". All the while, the dark, mysterious history of the zombies past looms over them, while they run from the zombie cops, and try to go unnoticed in a small suspicious town. Yes. We do realize how cheesy and cliche basically all of this sounds, but we're still having fun creating all of these different characters and their back stories, and I promise, so far it's a lot less cheesy than the description...
Today, boredom compelled me to do better character designs, because I always kind of get a better feel for a character when I can sketch them out and see how they look and dress. Here's a few of our main characters:

Boo,

Lorcan, & Raven

We hope to have filled your head with zombie day dreams and the beginning of a glitterific day!
