Hello, all of you wonderful people! Above are pictures from the photo shoot I made my friends help me with today, inspired by movies about adventurous children, namely, Moonrise Kingdom. I was reading a Rookie article about young explorers, and felt like I needed an adventure. Even if it was just down the street and through some trees. Also, it just needed to have some Moonrise Kingdom-esque elements, such as suitcases filled with books, binoculars, some sweet dance moves, and awesome vintage outfits. I forced my friends, Ember and Nina into some "Chloe Clothes," and started styling our set. Luckily, my mom has a business renting out props, and styling photo shoots, parties, and weddings, so it wasn't difficult to get everything we needed. If anyone has noticed, I have a new blog, in addition to this one, but with the similar name of "Cirque du Quirk," on WordPress. It still has all of the same content, but I think it looks nicer. However, it's a lot more difficult to do things, even though there's much more to do. I don't know, I'll probably figure it out, but for now I'm still just confused. It's up though, so you can check it out if you get a chance! I linked to it above, but it's cirqueduquirk.com if the link doesn't work.
I hope you all have glitterific days, with lots of adventures!
Love,
Chloe (the explorer)

Foxy Sweaters and Dissapearing Costumes

Outfit Details:
Sweater- Target
Hat- #h&m
Shirt- From the Muddfest at Muddywaters
Crinoline- Sam's (At least the brand)
Tights- #forever21
Boots- Knock off Doc Martins
I love animal prints. Not just striped and spots and things (even though I do love those), but just clothes with prints of little animals, especially when they're woodland creatures. Like foxes! This sweater has bright colors and a fox, and it's really cozy since it's a couple of sizes too big. Which is perfect for cozy sweaters. The last picture (of my shoes) was at school, because I was helping to cut up confetti for the play (apparently multiple garbage bags full of it are needed for one of Puck's monologues), but I got to mix in a bunch of glitter, but it was going all over and it was really pretty. You can't really see it in the picture though...
I was fitting the actress in her magician assistant outfit again today, and she let me take some pictures of her in it outside! Here's what it looks like:
But, when I went to get the cool lacy top for her, it was mysteriously gone, leaving only a hanger behind. So, I think we're giving her this corset to wear under the coat:
I hope you all have glitterific days, with woodland creatures who can "Make it work" like me!
Love,
Chloe

Leopard Sweaters and Bee-Hives

Outfit Details:
Sweater- #h&m
Dress- #forever21
Crinoline- Sam's (I couldn't find a website for the brand, but I found this)
Socks- #forever21
Shoes- #h&m
Hello! I realized after doing my hair that the back had ended up really cool and swirly looking. My hair's short enough that when I do bee-hives or things, I have to clip up the back, but to keep it from sticking out weird, I just pulled it across, and looped it back and pinned it. With my outfit, I wore the dress as a blouse, but it worked because the skirt isn't full or anything, so it was like a slip under the crinoline, which is pretty sheer. I always like wearing crinolines, whether they're over or under dresses, or just as skirts! They just make any outfit even prettier!
The Dos Pueblos (DP's my High School) production of A Midsummer Night's Dream (But Steam Punk) starts on the 15th, so we've been doing a lot in costume crew. I got to be in charge of the 3 magician's assistants, and I just wanted to share my favorite one, that I was working on yesterday.
I got to go through all of our racks of costumes, and pull all of these super cool coats and tails, and I got to use this red skirt that I've just been waiting to gather up to look all Steam-Punk-y. I put that over this thin black skirt I found, with a thick ruffle along the hem, and I took this rad vintage dress that was falling apart, but had really cool lace along the top, and cut it into a blouse. For the coat, I found a dark brown coat and tails, and cut the sleeves off, because they were making it harder for the actor to move, and she needed to do a lot of arm gestures. I think it actually added to the coolness of it, and I also splattered it with gold paint. I put a picture of the skirt and coat above, but I did a quick sketch for you all of how the whole thing should look when it's all put together. If you live in the Santa Barbara area, you should consider coming to the show, because all of the other costumes are super cool too.
I hope you all have extra glitterific days!
Love,
Chloe

Harry Potter, Obama, and Vintage Dresses

Outfit Details:
Dress- Vintage
Belt- #forever21
Tights- #forever21
Shoes- (Knock-off) Doc Martins
Ok, so I couldn't really come up with a good title for this post, but I could always have some thing about how they're all related by awesomeness? The Obama's because the news just said that he was re-elected, so I think that's pretty awesome. Then the Harry Potter's because I've been re-reading the books and slowly re-watching the movies, but the entire time I've been mentally quoting A Very Potter Musical, which I watch with my friends just about every other weekend. If you haven't heard of it/seen it, here's the first part, but I would suggest watching more than just that one before making any judgements, and the sequel (A Very Potter Sequel) is my favorite.
Also, Draco Malfoy is just the greatest in this. Lauren Lopez is amazing, because she always plays my favorite characters in Starkid productions, like Draco and Taz (Taz is from Starship). And Vintage Dresses is just because, you know, it's what I'm wearing.
I hope you all have gloriously glitterific days!
Love,
Chloe

Candy Stripes, Spider Webs, & Purple Hair (Again)

Outfit Details:
Dress- #modcloth
Tights- #forever21
Shoes- #h&m
I really like this dress, because it looks like candy stripes, and it was really nice in our 95 degree weather today. I know that's not really that hot compared to some places, but I love cold, rainy weather, so I've pretty much always hated the heat. But this dress was perfect for today. I've been meaning to take it in, because they only had it 2 or 3 sizes too big when I ordered it from Modcloth, but this morning I just grabbed a few safety pins and bobby pins to at least make it somewhat fit. These tights were also nice because they looked like lacy spider webs, and they weren't hot or anything but they were still tights. And I like wearing tights. I liked my pictures, because my cat, Ruby, was actually cooperating and letting me hold her in some of my pictures. Plus, my hair is purple again, but it's much lighter now.
I needed to include at least one more picture of these scarecrows, though, because they still look terrifying. They stare into your sole and find all of your fears and weaknesses.
I hope you've all had glitterific days, with lots of candy, scarecrows, and cats!
Love,
Chloe
