Out Of This World

Dress: Forever21, Boots: Painted docs
Today I felt like a space alien. After three or four outfit changes that did't feel right, I settled on this turquoise retro-style dress with two pairs of blue-green fishnets, turquoise socks and my now-white doc martins. I've gotten into kind of a shoe painting phase but there's something kind of cool and spacey about white boots, especially when I added neon green laces and an alien sticker along with a couple of silver stars.
For my pictures I hung up a white sheet because I've never tried it and I wanted to see how it'd work. It was kind of weird but I might try it again. I also tried to take a few pictures with the moon because I felt spacey but it's very difficult to do those by yourself so I settled for an out of focus shot with my arms kind of in the frame.
To go with my alien #aesthetic I put my hair in space buns and added hoards of green and pink glitter. I also used lots of blue and green in my makeup, including my lipstick.
All day I had Alien Love Song by the Sulk Scouts stuck in my head, which you should check out because they're rad. I saw them at Burger A Go Go and they were super fun. Plus, their album is free on Bandcamp.
I hope your day is ~out of this world~

All of the Flower Crowns

Top: Hand-me-down, Sweater: Forever 21, Skirt: Flea market, Socks: Forever 21, Shoes: Thrifted and painted
Today was the Econ Fair at school, where seniors get into groups and sell products that they've made/brought and in my group I was selling flower crowns with fresh flowers. I honestly have no idea how many flower crowns I made today because I just sat and made them for about three or four hours. I ended up with one left over so I wore it for the rest of the day. Here is one that my mom bought from me when she dropped off some extra wire for me:
I used mostly carnations, roses and baby's breath. It was fun because I like making flower crowns and it was cool looking around and seeing all these different girls wearing them then.
Because we were supposed to dress professionally, I wore a floral button-up that my mom gave me with a ribbon tied under the collar, a mint green pullover with my feminist rosette, a black skirt and tights, mint ruffled socks and white oxfords. The shoes were just old black oxfords that I spray painted white and intend to paint some kind of pretty pastel color. They're about two sizes too big but they're pretty and they make me feel fancy so I just stuffed the toes with paper towels.
I hope you have a glitterific day!

Housecoat --> Cute Sack Dress

Yesterday I grabbed an old housecoat that I got at the thrift store about a year ago and cut it up. I only ever wore it as-is once or twice because it was ankle-length, long-sleeved and boxy so it was kind of difficult to wear, especially when it's almost always warm out. I cut the bottom off so it's much shorter and gave it rolled-up short sleeves. Now it feels more like a cute sack dress and it's still got the super rad blue and orange floral print.
My style inspiration of the moment is Jender Anomie after I saw the Rookie post with pictures of her. I have since followed her on instagram and have been loving that her life is like a Meadham Kirchoff pop art explosion. Yesterday I drew zigzags under my eyes in white eyeliner inspired by her post on instagram with similar makeup.
I have also decided that I really need a lace ruffled collar because apparently they go with everything.
I hope you have a glitterific day!

Halloween Queen (Any Day of the Year)

Dress: DIY, Sweater: DIY, Tights: DIY, Crown: DIY, Shoes: Asos
I think this might be the first time that I've worn a (non-flower) crown to school and not had a single person ask if it was my birthday. I'm taking that as meaning that I've reached the level that it is no longer questioned and simply taken as an everyday occurrence to wear sparkly pipe-cleaners in my hair. My dress, however, was questioned by one teacher simply because it's technically Halloween-themed and no matter how hot it still is outside, it is technically almost Christmas.
I realized that essentially everything I wore today had been either made completely or at least altered in some way, and I always think that's nice. It happens a lot but it always makes me happy because I like wearing something and knowing that I did something to it and changed it somehow. At least I never have to worry about showing up somewhere and seeing someone wearing the same thing as me.
Today I pinned my bangs back and filled my eyebrows in with light blue eyeshadow to match the gems on my crown. I also added a bit of blue eyeliner under my eyes to "complete the look."
I hope you have a lovely day!

Chloe

On Fleek

Shirt: X, Skirt: Hand-me-down, Tights: Kmart (probably), Boots: h&m
Today I wore an X t-shirt, an old skirt, leopard-print tights and chelsea boots, with very very glittery eyebrows. I really like this shirt because the front has the cover of the Los Angeles album and the back has the lyric sheet. I got my shirt when I saw them sophomore year but they've got it on their site too.
I checked Rookie at school today and saw that they happened to have just posted an article about glitter eyebrows yesterday. I believe that this is just further proof that Rookie uses cool girl magic to steal thoughts and ideas from my mind to write really good articles that always perfectly emulate and/or dictate my life.
I hope you have an extra glitterific day!

Fake Hair Don't Care

Top: Probably Anthropology, Skirt: Thrift Store, Socks: Modcloth
Yesterday I french braided my hair with there really long and super terrible extensions that are honestly kind of gross but they almost perfectly match my hair right now so I don't really mind. They don't look at all natural but at this point I think of things like extra long braids hanging down my back more as accessories than a hair style. I also wore a bunch of roses made into a flower crown and stuck leaves in the braids, prompting my friend to comment that I looked like "a weird forest lady," which is at least half of my daily aesthetic.
Clothing-wise I wore an old striped top of my mom's and a skirt that I got at a thrift store and cut the hem off of. I have also taken to filling in my eyebrows with pink eyeshadow that matches my hair because it makes me feel especially magical, which is really how everyone should feel every day.
I hope you have a glitterific day!

Spooky Skulls and Fine Flowers

Blouse: Forever 21, Slip: Vintage (dyed), Socks: Kmart
Today I wore my dyed-fuscia slip under my mom's mint blouse with her black cardigan and the skull-print stockings which were once children's Kmart tights. I added on my rainbow skull bracelet, skeleton cameo and the pipe-cleaner pentagram necklace I made freshman year.
I did my hair in a very quick pseudo beehive with a pink flower crown headband, and a butterfly pinned at the back.
I hope you all have a glitterific day!

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!

Dress: Vintage, Shoes: Zappos
Today I wore this rad vintage dress that was most likely owned by a dead woman who's family had a garage sale that we went to this summer and it looks like it was made in a High School home ec class or something but it's super cool. It makes me feel like a member of the Brady Bunch so I wore it with white tights and my saddle shoes and left my hair down with just some barrettes.
My schedule works out that I don't have to go to school until pretty late on Thursdays so I took this opportunity to get some pictures in the morning when there was actually light coming from the sky that wasn't reflecting off of the moon. Halfway through though, I was interrupted by my mom's turkey who can be seen creeping up in the first picture, along with my dog who decided to be photogenic. It was very strange taking pictures without the sun at least half-way set but it was also nice.
I hope you have a lovely day!

Flower Power

Dress: Vintage, Jacket: DIY
Today I wore a vintage floral-printed shift dress with my died and painted jacket, black tights and my black Chelsea-boots. I wanted to do something interesting with my makeup so I vaguely followed this Rookie tutorial to put flower petals around my eyes. Tbh I didn't have any eyelash glue so I used a glue stick because I always use those to glue things to my face.
Because of the time change and because I still work in the theater until after 6 it's been impossible to get nice outside photos this week but at least my room is cool so I can take some pictures in here, even if they don't look as nice. Although, they do offer a nice display of my displayed obsessions with Morrissey and One Direction, featured on both my wall in these pictures and on my bed in the form of a Morrissey pillow case and the One Direction t-shirt I wore on Monday and have yet to put away.
I hope you have a lovely day!

Toadstools and Bumble Bees

Dress: Vintage, Socks: Sock It To Me
Yesterday I wore my mom's old bee-print dress with my yellow-green toadstool socks and my docs. I wore my hair up in buns and clipped in some barrettes.
I hope you have a lovely day!

Spots and Peonies

Top: Betty Page, Socks: Forever 21, Shoes: Asos
Last Thursday I wore an polka dotted old blouse of my mom's with the spotted dirndl that my dad brought back from Germany for me. It was a nice opportunity to wear my new socks which are very nice and have peonies printed on them which is pretty rad.
My hair was really gross (and I bleached it out that night so now it's light pink) but I just wrapped a scarf over it so that I wouldn't have to deal with it.
I hope you have a lovely day!

Always Ready to Dance

Dress: Vintage, Tights: h&m, Shoes: Amazon
On this day I wore my mom's old vintage dress with a pair of swing dancing shoes that I stole out of her closet. They were very comfortable for heels so even if you're probably not supposed to I would very much recommending dancing shoes as normal shoes. Plus, that way you're always ready to dance, which I did most of the day.
I hope you have a lovely day!

Space Witch #aesthetic

Shirt: Morrissey, Skirts: All vintage or Forever 21
Last week I was working on a series of sketches of these magical and monstrous best friends who are a Ghoul Gang and one girl is a space witch and I realized that that's what my aesthetic is. One day I braided my hair up with silver pipe cleaners, created confetti constellations under my eyes and layered four tutus with my star-printed ballet skirt. Also I wore one of my many Morrissey shirts because I like Morrissey.
I hope you have a *glitterific* day!

Nice Ink

Shirt: (Las Vegas) Thrift store, Skirt: Amazon, Tights: SF Sock Shop
As has been portrayed on here before, I hold a propensity for coloring on myself with gel pens and markers. Over the years I'm proud to say that I've gotten pretty good at it and it's a fun way to brighten up an outfit, or pass time in class. Yesterday I sat and began my own personal garden of flowers blooming from my shoulder and growing down towards my elbow. I've got a peony, a few poppies, some hydrangeas and a small bunch of lilac.
Today I wore an old Morrissey shirt with the sleeves cut off, my shiny silvery skirt, striped tights and black sneakers. I pinned my hair up in a messy up-do and pinned a few flowers in the back.
I hope you have a lovely day!

Chloe
